Interpretation Modes

Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpretation

The right interpretation mode depends on the setting, audience size, and nature of the event. Both modes are available for Indonesian–English assignments, in person across Indonesia and remotely via secure platforms. Each engagement is prepared thoroughly — subject-matter terminology, background materials, and briefing documents reviewed before the assignment begins.

Simultaneous

Simultaneous Interpretation

The interpreter renders speech into the target language in real time, with a lag of only a few seconds behind the speaker. Delivered from a soundproof booth using headsets, or via remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) platforms for virtual events. The audience follows through headsets without interruption to the speaker's flow.

  • International conferences and large seminars
  • UN and multilateral organization events
  • Law enforcement and government training
  • Corporate all-hands and product launches
  • Webinars and remote panel discussions
Consecutive

Consecutive Interpretation

The speaker delivers a segment of speech — typically one to several minutes — and pauses while the interpreter renders it into the target language. No special equipment is required. Consecutive interpretation is standard for legal proceedings, bilateral meetings, field visits, interviews, and smaller working groups where the direct back-and-forth exchange is the point.

  • Legal proceedings and law enforcement interviews
  • Business negotiations and site visits
  • Press briefings and media interviews
  • Government and diplomatic meetings
  • Training sessions and workshops
Domain Experience

Interpretation Across High-Stakes Contexts

Effective interpretation requires more than bilingual fluency. In each of the domains below, terminological precision, subject-matter familiarity, and composure under pressure are the baseline — not the differentiator. The client roster below each domain represents engagements where that standard was met.

Criminal investigations, anti-trafficking operations, weapons and drug enforcement, financial crime, and explosives awareness. Environments where misinterpretation has legal and operational consequences.

For event organisers: RSI assignments require a stable high-speed internet connection, professional-grade headset, and a quiet working environment. A technical check with the platform team before the event is standard practice and part of the preparation process.

Booking lead time: For in-person assignments, a minimum of 2–4 weeks' notice is preferred to allow for preparation and travel arrangements. Remote assignments can often be confirmed with shorter notice — contact directly to check availability.

Translation also available

Many interpretation clients also require translation of event materials — presentations, background documents, proceedings summaries, or supporting correspondence. Both services are available from a single point of contact, with consistent terminology across spoken and written output.

Common Questions

Interpretation — FAQ

Simultaneous interpretation occurs in real time — the interpreter renders speech into the target language as the speaker talks, with a lag of only a few seconds, typically from a soundproof booth with audio equipment. The audience follows through headsets without any interruption to the event's flow. Consecutive interpretation involves listening to a complete segment — usually one to several minutes — then rendering it while the speaker pauses. No special equipment is required. Consecutive is standard for legal proceedings, bilateral meetings, field visits, and smaller working groups; simultaneous is used for large conferences and events where real-time coverage is essential.

Yes. Remote simultaneous interpretation is available via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Interactio, Interprefy, KUDO, Voiceboxer, and most other major RSI platforms. Remote consecutive is available for video calls and virtual meetings of any size. A pre-event technical check with the platform team is standard practice.

Based in Bandung, West Java, with regular availability in Jakarta. In-person assignments are available throughout Indonesia — Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Surabaya, and elsewhere. Prior assignments have been conducted across Southeast Asia including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. International travel can be arranged for suitable engagements. Contact directly with your event's location and dates to discuss.

Preparation is a fundamental part of every assignment. Before each engagement, speaker materials, agenda documents, glossaries, and background reading relevant to the subject matter are reviewed. For technical or specialist domains — law enforcement, non-proliferation, financial services — subject-specific terminology is compiled and studied. The quality of interpretation is directly proportional to the quality of preparation; please share materials as early as possible.

Yes. The interpretation record includes assignments for the FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE/HSI, and U.S. Secret Service — contexts where precision under pressure, familiarity with investigative and legal terminology, and discretion are baseline requirements. Confidentiality agreements are available on request for sensitive engagements.

Yes. Jakarta is a regular working location for in-person assignments. Indonesian interpreter services are available for corporate events, government meetings, conferences, and bilateral meetings in Jakarta and throughout the Jakarta metropolitan area. Contact directly with your event details and preferred dates.

Interpretation is priced per assignment based on the mode (simultaneous or consecutive), event duration, location, subject matter, and any travel requirements. Day rates apply for in-person assignments. Remote rates differ from in-person. Contact directly with your event details — type, duration, location, and subject — and a clear rate proposal will be provided without obligation.
